1. Aim the microphone at desired sound sources and away from unwanted sound sources. This may not be obvious or intuitive since a supercardioid mic like the mic has a narrow pickup pattern and can pick up sounds from the rear. See figure on next page.

2. Place the microphone as close as possible to the desired sound source (see table in opposite column)

3. Work close to the mic for extra bass response

4. Use only one microphone to pick up a single sound source

5. Use the fewest number of microphones possible

6. The distance between multiple microphones is at least 3 times the distance to the nearest sound source

7. Move the microphone as far away from reflective surfaces as possible

8. When using the microphone outdoors, please use the windshield.
